Daily Devotion - Salvation
At the slightest offense, the Queen of Hearts shouts, "Off with their heads!" However, the kind King of Hearts quietly pardoned many of his subjects while his foul-tempered wife wasn't looking. This story makes me wonder about how people see God.
The old saints took their stand on the Word of God, and waiting, hoping on that Word, we rest on the Word, too – but, oh, under what exceedingly greater privileges, as one with Christ Jesus! In our waiting on God, let this be our confidence: in Christ we have access to the Father.
Our motivation to live a life worthy of His calling is because He first loved us. When we didn’t give God the time of day, He was still there waiting patiently for us. When we came to Him with all our problems and hang-ups, He received us with open arms.
You need the light of Christ. No one living in darkness will ever find their way without it. Like the saying "there's a light at the end of the tunnel", Jesus is that light at the end of everyone's tunnel.
I want to live a life of knowing my place in this world. I want to be thankful for all God has done for me. I want to walk in the confidence of who I am in Christ, forgetting the things of the past that have held me captive, and step out into the glorious blessing of being all that God has called me to be.
There are only two answers to this question. You either accept Him as Lord and Savior of your life or you reject Him as Lord and Savior. There is no ‘I’ll think about it later’ option. If you choose to ‘think about it later’, then you have rejected Christ.
Perhaps in the recipe of your own life you’ve wondered what Jesus can do. Maybe you’ve piled your bowl full of things you thought would make your life sweeter and you just don’t see how a dash of Him could make any difference. Well, friend, I’m here to tell you, a little Jesus goes a long way.
If salvation indeed comes from God, and is entirely His work, just as creation was, it follows, as a matter of course, that our first and highest duty is to wait on Him to do the work that pleases Him. Waiting becomes then the only way to the experience of a full salvation, the only way, truly, to know God as the God of our salvation.
Just being good can't do it for you. Your parents couldn't do it for you. Your church can't do it for you. It all comes down to you. You make the decision. God gave each of us a free will and only we can choose for ourselves if we will walk in His plan or our own.
