Building 429 Headlines 'Rise Tour'

Multi-Media Event to Encourage Youth to Live Fearlessly

CBN.com(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) April 20, 2006 – Dove Award-winning rock band Building 429 headlines its first tour this spring. Joining Building 429 will be musical guests Michael Tait and Hyper Static Union as well as adventure missionaries Travel the Road.

Designed as a live event experience, the “Rise Tour” will go beyond a typical concert to create an environment in which audiences are engaged for action, mixing music with video and talks from Travel the Road missionaries Tim Scott and Will Decker. Leading up to these events, Building 429 provided local youth ministers with resource kits and discussion materials introducing the “Rise” concept.

Building 429 issued its own personal call to action on sophomore album Rise, making the decision to stand before crowds and speak God’s truth. The band now brings that same challenge to youth on the “Rise Tour.”

“These missionaries go to the remote regions of the earth cutting through the bush to present the gospel to people who have never heard it before,” says Building 429’s Scotty Beshears. “I know that I’ve been afraid to admit I’m a Christian because of what someone might think of me. Yet, that’s the most important thing to me. If there’s anything worth fighting for, it’s that. At this point in our career, it’s perfect for us. It’s time to stretch our wings and go for it – be fearless.”

Kicking off April 18, the “Rise Tour” will reach church and college campuses throughout the South and Midwest, including stops in St. Louis, Mo., Evansville, Ind., Lancaster, Pa., and Woodbridge, Va. Also in the works are “Rise Tour” follow-up materials for youth ministers’ use at upcoming camps and retreats.

Word Records artist Building 429 debuted in 2004 with “Glory Defined,” a song that hit No. 1 on eight different charts and became BMI’s 2005 Song of the Year for Christian music. The band received four Dove Award nominations and was named the GMA’s 2005 New Artist of the Year. Building 429 has toured with Casting Crowns, Jeremy Camp, BarlowGirl and Todd Agnew, and frontman Jason Roy acted as a spokesperson for 2004’s Redeem the Vote, with appearances on “Fox News Live,” CNN and ABC’s “Nightline.” The band’s second full-length record, Rise, released in March 2006.

Michael Tait is a native of Washington, D.C., where he grew up in a full house with five sisters and three brothers. His involvement in music didn’t begin until high school and later at Liberty University, where he met fellow dc Talk members Toby McKeehan and Kevin Max. In the span of their 10-year relationship, dc Talk released a total of eight albums. He followed that with two projects from his own band TAIT, Empty and Lose This Life.

Travel the Road founders Tim Scott and Will Decker started doing extended overseas missions work in 1998. On their second trip in September 2000, Scott and Decker took a video camera along with a still camera to document their trip. The lives of these young missionaries over 18 months, through 25 countries and across 40,000 miles became a groundbreaking reality television series, showing a unique look into the world of frontline mission work.

Hailing from the Northwest, Hyper Static Union is a four-piece modern rock outfit that took shape in garage band-fashion in 1998. Taking the past eight years to hone its craft, HSU has melded an extensive musical background of jazz, modern rock and funk into its own unique style. Discovered by Third Day, HSU signed to the band’s Consuming Fire Productions and will become the first release on Rocketown Record’s new imprint RKT when its debut Lifegiver releases on May 9.
