The Pain of Sepsis Relieved by Prayer!
“It was feeling like somebody just stuck their hand inside my stomach and was twisting,” Tanya Garcia said. “I couldn't eat. I had no strength. I was so depressed and so scared. ‘Am I going to live like this the rest of my life, am I ever going to have a normal life? What am I going to do?’”
“In the middle of August, my stomach started swelling and getting hard as a rock, and just very, very bad cramps inside,” Tanya said. “I thought maybe I was having a heart attack because my heart was just pounding. I was literally holding on to the walls. ‘I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe.’ And that's when I went to the emergency room.”
“My cousin has had sepsis multiple times, so when I went into the emergency room, I asked them to check me for sepsis,” Tanya said. “They said, ‘Yes, you do. You're very sick.’ I had sepsis and I had C. diff. I never heard of C. diff, didn't know what it was. She explained to me that it was a severe infection in my intestines and my colon. So, they had me on multiple, multiple heavy antibiotics for the whole entire week.”
“My blood pressure started getting better,” Tanya said. “I felt like I was coming back to normal. They said, ‘Okay, we’re going to send you home.’ At that point I thought I was going to be okay, I’m going to get well. But I still was not well.”
“I couldn't eat any solid foods,” Tanya said. “I was dropping weight. I was fatigued. I was sitting on my couch, just falling asleep all day long. Couldn't keep my eyes open. I wasn't able to care for my granddaughter. There was nothing I could do. I was in tears, like, ‘What's happening to me? What’s going on with me, why am I feeling this way?’ I didn’t know what to do or where to turn other than to God. My prayers were with Him every night, ‘Heal me.’”
“It was the end of October and nothing had gotten better,” Tanya said. “I turned on the TV, The 700 Club was on and Terry started praying.”
“Your stomach, you have like an infection in the lining of your stomach which contributes to a lot of discomfort and pain for you,” Terry Meeuwsen said. “God’s healing that for you. Just put your hand on your abdomen. Just begin to thank Him for the healing that He’s giving you even as He’s doing it, in Jesus’ name.”
“I said, ‘Lord, I believe, I know that's for me. I accept it, I believe it, and I am healed by the glory of God.’ I just started crying with joy,” Tanya said. “The pain was gone. I immediately called my daughter. I said, ‘Let's go eat. She said, ‘Are you sure, Mom? You haven’t been able to eat.’ So, we went to a restaurant. I ordered some biscuits and gravy, and I ate. I wasn’t sick anymore, I could breathe, the pains were gone. And from that day on, it's just been glory.”
“My strength is back,” Tanya said. “My granddaughter, I’m able to take care of her. I know it was Him – ‘Thank you, Jesus.’ He answered my prayers, and I know that if He can answer my prayers, He can answer anyone's prayers. It's just the most beautiful feeling in the world to know that He loves me. He healed me. Just a mustard seed of faith, ask Him and he'll show you. If He can heal me, He can heal anybody.”

Standing with Our Military Families
US Navy Sailor, Elijah, works in combat support operations and has deployed twice to Southeast Asia. When he’s away from his family, he knows he leaves everything in the capable hands of his wife, Victoria.
Elijah says, “There's a level of peace that comes with that. Because I know things are gonna be taken care of. I know the bills, the kids are going to be taken care of.”
When Elijah received new orders for his next duty station in Virginia, they knew the cost of living would be much higher and planned accordingly. They started an emergency savings fund and cut out everything from their budget that they could. However, their financial situation spiraled when their family van needed over a thousand dollars in repairs.
Victoria explains, “It cost exactly what was left in our savings. That means we could take care of it. It is what it is.”
A week later, their water heater broke. Victoria says, “I broke down crying. Because we didn't have savings anymore. And I had been saving money for the kids' birthdays, like cash in an envelope for their birthdays. I was like, I'm gonna have to use their birthday money to pay for the, sorry, to pay for the water heater.”
As if things weren’t hard enough, the biggest financial blow came when their roof started leaking. They learned they needed a new one and their insurance didn’t cover it.
Elijah admits, “It’s scary because I don’t know what to do with it. Even if I pulled all my resources together, I couldn’t afford it.”
The only thing the couple could do was pray for a solution. Victoria says, "We can't do it alone. He is always protecting us and there for us, even when things go wrong.”
Their prayers were answered through a partnership with Coastal Community Church and Helping the Home Front. Pastor Trabelus Whitfield invited Elijah and Victoria over to tell them CBN was reimbursing them for the van repair.
Elijah says, “That’s huge. Thank you!”
Victoria adds, “We are going to be able to go back and start our savings again!”
Pastor says, “Well, that’s not the only surprise though. They're going to reimburse you for the cost of your water heater.”
Victoria says, “That's amazing.” Elijah adds, “That's amazing. Thank you!”
Pastor continues, “There's actually one more thing. They're going to take care of putting a new roof on your home."
Elijah asks, "Really?”
Pastor answers, “Absolutely! Absolutely.”
Elijah says, "I'm speechless. Yeah.”
Victoria adds, “I don't even know what to say. Just thank you.”
CBN hired Better View Roofing to replace the roof. When the company learned how Helping the Home Front helps military families, they replaced the roof for less than cost. Owner John explains why, saying, “We want to be there to support our military families. We want them to know that there are people in their community that love them, want them to be here, and want them to be part of our lives.”
With the roof replaced, and the van and water heater paid for, this family’s financial future is looking brighter.
Victoria concludes, “God has definitely put each of the CBN partners where they are for, for these moments. And I'm just so thankful that God has put them in that path.”

A Journey of Faith and Prayer
In a small village in Myanmar, a young girl named Yar Bo Htoo faced significant challenges early in life. At just nine years old, Yar Bo Htoo lost her father, and her mother remarried, leaving her to live with her grandmother. Despite the love and care from her grandmother, Yar Bo Htoo felt a deep need for more support and guidance.
Initially, Yar Bo Htoo didn't understand the power of prayer and rarely prayed for her needs. However, her life began to change when she started learning from Superbook, an animated series that brings Bible stories to life. The episode, “Isaac and Rebekah,” particularly resonated with her, teaching her about the benefits of prayer and the importance of trusting in God.
Through Superbook, Yar Bo Htoo's faith in God grew stronger. She learned that God always provides for our needs when we put our trust in Him. Inspired by these lessons, Yar Bo Htoo began to pray earnestly for a new bicycle, a dream she held dear. She wanted to ride it every evening with her friends, and she prayed with a heart full of faith.
Her prayers were answered. Yar Bo Htoo received a new bicycle, a testament to God's faithfulness and the power of prayer. She joyfully shared her testimony with her friends, saying, "I decided to pray to God with all my heart." Her story is a beautiful example of how faith and prayer can bring about transformation and hope.
Yar Bo Htoo's journey is just one example of how Superbook is making a difference around the world. By supporting this mission, you can help bring hope and transformation to even more children and families.
