Kendra Todd: Turn Passion Into Prosperity

CBN.comIT’S ALL GOD

Kendra Todd is considered to be one of the youngest and most diverse successful female entrepreneurs today. She is also one of the top producing investment-related real estate agents in the United States. Kendra's mission is to share the knowledge and mindset needed to achieve financial independence, and inspire people to reach for greatness in their lives.

“I’m a real estate investor, but that’s just one facet of one part of a bigger picture – teaching people how to develop a healthy attitude and mindset towards money,” she said.

Her best selling book, Risk & Grow Rich targets the challenges and importance of taking risks to create wealth, and directly confronts how our relationship to risk affects our lives.

Her team's main mission is to match buyers with properties that fit their goals, and to help people grow one step closer to financial freedom. And, although Kendra has an in-depth background in real estate, her main goal is equipping people with the knowledge that success and wealth comes from God.

“I’m a strong Christian, and I’m getting ready to launch a Christian biblical based approach to making and saving money, tithing and giving,” she said. “I am getting ready to do what I am passionate about. I want to empower people to create a real positive relationship with and perspective on money, and realize it’s all God.”

Kendra also specializes in financial literacy and believes that it’s important to learn how to save and not be indebted to anyone; learning the biblical foundation on how to approach money and setting yourself up for retirement is key, especially during this current economic crisis.

“It isn’t about you. It’s all God,” she said. “That’s something that I really put out there as one of the fundamental approaches to developing a successful mindset. Turn off the television; the Lord will guide us through this financial crisis. Don’t get overly excited about what the news is saying. Don’t let that dictate how you feel about your current situation.”

YOU'RE HIRED!

On May19, 2005, Kendra became the first woman, as well as youngest competitor to win NBC's The Apprentice.

“The minute he [Donald Trump] said, 'you're hired,' I said, 'Lord, why me?' I was not the smartest or the most qualified. I was not expecting it at all. It was a blessing,” she said. “I made friends for a lifetime and I learned a lot about how people behave when backed into a corner, myself included. I was very humbled by the experience.”

After winning Season 3 of The Apprentice, Kendra was hired by Donald Trump to work a one year tenure with the Trump Organization; where she oversaw renovation of one of the most expensive homes in the world – a $125 million Palm Beach oceanfront estate.

“I was the only apprentice that didn't have to relocate. It was really right up my alley, twenty minutes away from where I already lived,” she said. “It was a wonderful experience having a real estate background. I enjoyed immensely the people I got to work with and just seeing how different the real estate marke operates on that high of a level. The greatest blessings were that I learned a lot about myself, the friends I made, the opportunities that opened the door to landing a job at HGTV, and having the opportunity to reach as many people as possible with positive messages.”

Landing a job at HGTV came shortly after Kendra appeared on ABC's 20/20.

“Some people from HGTV saw me on 20/20 and thought I'd be perfect for the network and offered me a show,” she said. “And you know what's so amazing? I was on an airplane watching HGTV and I thought, 'Gosh, I would love to have a show on HGTV. That would be such a dream come true.' Then two months later, I got a call from them! Ha! It was amazing, another unmerited blessing!”

Kendra is the host of HGTV's Your House Is Worth What? On each show, three homeowners in three different parts of the country strategize on maximizing their homes' value.

“What we do is go to people's home's and basically assess the return they're going to get from the work they've done, or how much mistakes have cost them. At the end of the show, we reveal what the house is worth,” she said. “These are people who live in their homes. These are not investment properties. It's lessons for the homeowners; what risks to take and which ones not to take.”

PERSONAL LIFE

“The moment my life really changed and where I started to see things differently was when I gave it up to the Lord. I put it all at the foot of His throne, and I stopped doing things that I thought were a good idea. I prayed over everything, and I let Him guide me,” she said. “I make decisions based on His guidance, not my own fortitude; I try not to make decisions out of my emotions. It’s a different type of self-confidence. It’s confidence in the faith I have in Him that will always lead me down the right path. That faith based confidence changed the way I build my business and how I approach money. My tagline for my business is ‘Helping people turn passion into prosperity.’ If you have a pulse, you have a purpose!”

Prior to her real estate career, Kendra was the founding Editor-in-Chief of an award-winning lifestyle publication, Capture Life Magazine. She is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Most of her family resides in Virginia. Kendra is 30-years-old.
