TIPS FOR SETTING A BEAUTIFUL HOLIDAY TABLE
Roxanne and her daughter, Hannah, offer simple ideas for creating a beautiful holiday table.  Roxanne understands how difficult it may be for many people to decorate their homes during these tough economic times.  “It’s in the little details,” says Roxanne.  “You can use things you already have to make things Christmasy.”  Using traditional red and green as well as burlap and white, Roxanne and Hannah will demonstrate two ways to decorate a table.  Hannah says she makes handwritten place cards using ceramic place cards.  You can quickly write people’s names or a favorite quote or scripture.  She also suggests setting up a chalk board in the entry way and writing a seasonal greeting on it.  “That welcome sets the tone for the rest of the event,” says Roxanne. “It feeds your soul as well as the dinner that feeds you physically.”  Scattering scriptures around the home, like in the powder room, on end tables or above door jams, is a great way to elevate your family and friends’ thoughts.

By using fresh greenery from your yard, Roxanne says this is a fresh and festive way to make a beautiful table.  Simply cut a few twigs of greenery, like pine, ivy or boxwood branches and magnolia leaves and put them in crystal vases.  She also believes no table is complete without candles.  Use 5 to 7 little glass votives with white candles which will make everything on the table more beautiful and set a soft, relaxing tone.  Roxanne will demonstrate setting the table and Hannah will focus on the written and handmade parts for each setting.

A LEGACY OF LOVE
Roxanne’s grandfather, Allan Adler, was an internationally acclaimed silversmith.  He was proclaimed a California “Living Treasure” by the Smithsonian Institute and was widely known as the “silversmith to the stars.”  Clients included Katherine Hepburn, Carol Channing, Paul Newman, Cary Grant, etc.  When Roxanne was a little girl, she would go to her grandparents’ for dinner and watch them set the table.  This is what inspired her to become an interior designer.  “I was born into a family that loved design,” says Roxanne.  Her family was supportive and always cheered her on.  Her life lessons were learned at her parents’ home, on their boat, around the lake.  There was always laughter and fun at the always-beautifully-decorated family table.  So it was with this legacy that Roxanne received and passed on the love for family and design to Hannah, now 18.

Roxanne’s dream took shape while attending the Paris Fashion Institute and attending couture shows at the House of Dior, YSL and Louis Ferard.  This was when she realized her passion for design and saw interior design as appealing.  Her style is distinctly European.

Soon Roxanne found herself inspiring other mothers and their teen daughters to find their passion and both Hannah and Roxanne knew they found their calling.  To continue their work, the mother-daughter duo founded Inspired31.org, as a mother-daughter ministry devoted to inspiring teens and their moms to follow God’s plan for their lives after many mothers and daughters expressed interest in doing activities together.
