The Apprentice

As always NBC's The Apprentice is an engaging and fresh look at the changing face of corporate America. In Fall 2010, Donald Trump’s boardroom opened again with candidates who were hit hard by the current economic downturn. The 16 candidates have either lost their jobs or are recent college graduates who currently have few, if any, prospects. The prizes focus on more meaningful rewards and aim at improving the lives of the candidates.  Winning project managers will be rewarded with one-on-one meetings with some of America’s best-known business leaders and CEOs. The winner will land a job within The Trump Organization with a six-figure salary.

Clint Robertson, a strong Christian, was a successful real estate attorney. While working for a very successful firm in Texas, Clint opened a title office. “I got so big with processing titles, I had three locations and two construction companies,” says Clint, “I became a one-stop shop.”

Clint’s business success started to take a hit as the economy took a downturn. “In 2008 I started seeing a lot of contracts coming back,” says Clint. Along with many businesses at the time, Clint began to scale back in attempts to fight the dip in business. “By 2009 there was not a buyer to be found,” he says. Clint had to close four of his offices, sold his home and moved his wife and three children from Texas to a friend’s vacation home in Idaho.

In March 2010, during an episode of Celebrity Apprentice, a casting call was announced for this season of The Apprentice. Clint and his wife had been praying diligently for deliverance from their financial situation. They knew the moment they saw the ad that this was their answered prayer.  Winning The Apprentice has its obvious benefits for all the candidates involved. “I thought The Apprentice was the door God was opening as a way of providing,” says Clint.

Clint Robertson Says, 'Stop Striving'

“The show is becoming a platform and is giving me opportunities to have conversations with people about the peace of God,” says Clint, “and to share how God can provide for every need. Being a candidate on The Apprentice is like being in a pressure cooker. It really shows who people truly are.”

Clint is quick to admit he is not perfect. “I am not some ‘holier than thou’ guy. I can relate to people,” says Clint.

The Apprentice has helped Clint see that times are tough, but focusing past the situation and seeking God gives an indescribable peace. “God can and will provide for me,” says Clint.  “The peace and blessings that flow when I stop striving and seek the kingdom first—I don’t have the words—it is remarkable."
