"It has been a long career, because generally speaking a male dancer's career is 12 to 15 years, and I have done three-plus that, so I have been very, very blessed," says Bill. "The major companies I performed with were my home company in Canada, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and I danced with the London Festival Ballet in London, the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow, and the City Center Joffrey Ballet in New York, and then I freelanced for 25 years. In addition to dancing, I learned how to choreograph and stage productions and do the whole gamut, so it has given me a good career of 185 world tours."
One of the highlights of Bills career was when he was asked to dance and stage in mainland China. He was the first Western artist to be invited in the country after the Cultural Revolution.
"As you know, during the Cultural Revolution, they destroyed all the Western forms of art, all opera scores, all dance scores, all symphonic scores, and I took back 1,200 pounds of music with me. I was there for a period of almost two years, going back and forth over a span of time to do new productions and take orchestrations back and forth because they had killed 26,000 artists in China for practicing Western repertoire," he says.
In more recent years, Bill has transitioned into teaching ballet. As with any dancer or teacher, the ability to perform and make a living is contingent upon staying in peak physical shape. About five years ago, Bill sustained a serious injury.
"This is a recent phenomenon in the last years," he says. "Somehow three bone chips broke off somewhere, either the top of my hip or off the femur somewhere, and had lodged in my hip socket, and it absolutely crippled me. The pain was unbelievable. I would get up at some time, and I would not be able to walk or ambulate at all. Sometimes I would be in bed for two or three days and have friends bring me food because the pain was so excruciating from those three tiny bones in the hip."
Bill lived with chronic pain for five long years. Even the simplest of movements were agonizing. It affected his ability to teach and perform ballet. Medication did nothing to alleviate the pain. One doctor had recommended a hip replacement surgery as an option. But God had a better treatment.
"One beautiful day in July, I was watching The 700 Club, and pastor Pat had a revelation of a man who was suffering terribly from a left hip problem and said he may need surgery," says Bill.
"You have got a deteriorating hip socket, and they told you that you need a hip replacement. God Almighty is doing a creative miracle with you right now. You will feel heat in that joint, in that socket," Pat Robertson said that day on the television show.
"I absolutely hijacked that healing," Bill recalls, "and within minutes, I got up and I ran. I walked around the house, and I just couldnt believe it. Im still high on it because I can do things. I go to the gym now, which I did before in pain, and I work out several hours a day. I do my ballet workout. It was just a miracle that I was very blessed to receive."
Now Bill is able to move, flex, and dance as he always did. He is pain free and able to do vigorous workouts. Three months ago he was barely able to extend his left leg to a 45-degree angle because of the pain. After Pats word of knowledge, Bill was completely healed.
"I have a total restoration without pain," he says.
