'Fix It, Jesus' Grad Wants God to Get the Honor

Almost a week after his impromptu high school graduation prayer went viral, Christian Crawford is deflecting his new-found celebrity toward the One he says really deserves it.

The incident unfolded on May 21 when the Clay-Chalksville High School graduation ceremony was interrupted by a medical emergency.

"When the librarian asked me to pray, I was a little hesitant at first because I didn't know what I was going to pray about," Crawford told CBN News.

"But as I walked up to the podium, I said, 'Lord, let Your will be done,' and began to open up my mouth and the Lord began to speak to me and speak through me," he said.

The senior class president, who says he wants a career in politics, has been invited to deliver the opening prayer for the Alabama House of Representatives.

"He was very poised, and also I thought it was very heartfelt and genuine," The Christian Examiner quoted Rep. Danny Garrett, R-Trussville.

"It was just a really good thing in our community, and I was really proud of him. I wanted to meet him and shake his hand. I admired him," the lawmaker said.

Crawford said some people may say he's famous now, but he doesn't care about all that. He just wants to make sure that God gets the honor and praise.
